Sarah's "Bachelorette In Boots" Party!!

This past weekend we celebrated Sarah's last few weeks as a single woman! My sister Amy and I have been planning this "bachelorette in boots" themed bachelorette party for weeks and I can't believe its already come and gone! :(
The weekend was SO.MUCH.FUN and makes me even more excited for their wedding coming up at the end of April!

We headed to Manhattan Saturday around noon. Sarah and I rode together and after making a quick stop to look at grey napkins for the reception, grocery store and hobby lobby it was out to my dads to decorate and get ready.

Im beyond thrilled with how the decorations came together. Im SO over the black and pink themed bachelorette parties so we threw in a western, classy yet a little trashy twist on her shin dig :)
It ended being freakin adorable and Im definitely patting myself on the back for having the idea. he he!
Amy made yummy sangria and cupcakes and we had a few munchies since we went out to dinner.

LOVE mason jars!!

the cowboy boot koozies were a HUGE hit... love them!!

a bachelorette party must have...

my daddy's boots made the perfect centerpiece!!

SOOO happy with the way it all came together!

As much as I wanted to suprise Sarah with a limo is was just too expensive :( Since a lot of her girl friends live in different states we didn't have a big enough group to split the cost. Plus I didn't want everyone spending money on gas to come to manhattan, a gift, dinner and drinks AND a limo... so we ruled it out. I REALLY wanted to suprise Sarah with something so I told Amy we should have someone come over and do her hair and make up so she'd look extra special! It ended up being the best suprise and Sarah and no clue, she even cried when she came in to the bathroom and saw Mary setting up... Im sooo happy we tricked her!! :)

Mary is amazing and she did a great job on the hair and make up... she is SUCH a sweet heart and we're so thankful she came over and did us a huge favor... THANK YOU MARY!!

We met the group at La Fiesta for dinner then headed back to dads for presents and pre drinking!

Presents are always fun and she got CUTE stuff...I want to steal it all :) I told sarah I would take care of her something blue for the wedding and I just couldn't keep it a secret any longer so i put it in with her gift. It was a hit... duh :)

How fun are those?!! Love them!

We had to get some group pics before heading out...
the bridesmaids minus Derek's sister Jaime who was under the weather saturday :(

seesters!! love, love, love them!

mom, aunt, cousin, sisters! LOVE Them too! :)

the bunch!

We had to go to willies first for a drink and then headed to the ville! The night went too fast but we had so much fun! We ended the night 2-steppin' at longhorns and dancing to Randy Rogers!
I can't believe its over but it makes us all even more excited for the wedding! April 30th hurry up already!

she got busted after this... ha. the dj was NO fun. :)

classy :)

yay, love my boots!

love you baby sis!!

who needs a limo when you have  a Swagger Wagon...

My favorite part was cleaning up everything ALONE on Sunday because my sisters were on their death beds...I felt fine, just REALLY tired!!
Can you tell she doesn't get out much... ha ha :)
Sorry for the picture OVERLOAD but there were too many cute ones to narrow it down!!

Loooove you!! Can't wait for your BIG day!!!

Sicky boo

Today I am home from work with my sicky boo Aiden :( The poor little guy has been sick since Saturday night! He was suppose to have a sleep over with my mom that night but after they watched the K-State basketball game, mom thought he felt a little warm. I was out to dinner with some girlfriends and she texted me seeing if I would bring some tylenol. Mike was in Manhattan so I left immediately and headed to the CVS pharmacy by her house and grabbed cough medicine, childrens advil and a thermometer. My mom wanted us to just stay there but when we're sick we just want to be HOME. He had a fever of 101 when I got there and after giving him medicine we headed home. By the time we got there he was a whole new kid... talking, laughing and wanting to play. Since Mike was gone I put him in bed with me and we hit the sack.

Sunday he was good as long as he had medicine in him. As soon as it would wear off he would get really warm again. Then Sunday night he was burning up and we were up from 2am-5am. Mike took the day off to stay with him while I went to work. By this point we are convinced it was his 2 year molars. The fever and runny nose plus he is drooling like crazy and chewing on his fingers. He even complained to my mom that his mouth hurt. BUT he has a horrific cough as well which is not part of teething... so I was confused. He was the same yesterday as Sunday, good as long as medicine was in him. We even took a nice walk and found a new playground, he had a blast. Then at bed time he didn't want to go down and found any and every excuse to come out of his room. He finally went to sleep but was in our bed at midnight then we were up again from 2am to 5am.

This morning I had a meeting at work so I was up early and he was sound asleep in our bed. I finally had to wake him up to get him ready and he would not stop crying. He didn't want to get dressed, he refused to eat, he was warm and his eyes were super droopy. We were pretty much out the door when every instinct I have was telling me to stay. I just HATE calling in to work and I HATE taking him to the doctor for them to tell us nothing! But I knew he needed to be home again and that I needed to stay and take care of him. I didn't listen to my instincts the last time (pink eye) and I wasn't at work 5 min before the school called to have me pick him up, I didn't want that to happen again. He is clearly sick and did not need to be anywhere but home with his mama. So instead we headed out the door to the doctors office. They did a strep test and a flu test and both were negative. I told her how we thought it was his 2 yr molars and she agreed it could be a little of that but it wouldn't cause such a high fever. His fever was 102 when we were at the doctor :( She pretty much had no clue what was wrong but since one of his ears was a little red she called us in a prescription for amoxicillan and sent us on our way. Boo! I just want to know what is wrong! He has been pretty miserable all day. We've been taking it really easy and he's just been napping off and on and watching Thomas the Train. He finally ate a little but not much, but he is drinking plenty of fluids and is def not dehydrated which is good.

Poor little guy!! Im hoping he can get a good nights sleep tonight and be better tomorrow! The doctors office is right by his school and when we drove by it he flipped out! He wanted to go so bad! He misses his little friends. :(

On another {random}subject... Mike's co worker told him about this tom cat app that her 18mo daughter likes. We're always looking for kid apps that can occupy him at a restaurant, grocery store, doctors office waiting room etc. when all else fails. I wouldn't say this app is kid friendly (you can hit the cat and knock it down. how horrible!!) But Aiden talks to the cat and it repeats anything he says. Its so cute listening to him talk to it, and today he was showing the cat something out the car window. It was hilarious, its like his little friend.
He can mess up our phones real quick if we dont watch him so we try to not let him play with them but honesly sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and if its going tokeep him quiet and occupied in certain situations then bring it on!

I've gotten the chance today to go through Aiden's summer clothes. Let's just say he needs a whole new wardrobe. AHH! $$$$$$
I didn't get to go to the little britches sale this year which is where I get 70% of his wardrobe from so im freaking out a bit. I see a shopping spree in our very near future. And maybe cousin Pax has some things he can pass down as well. They grow so fast and clothes are so pricey. But with him being an ornery, messy, clumsy, ALL BOY 2 year old Ill stick to the cheap tee's and cotten shorts that he can mess up at school. I can't resist the polos and plaid shorts though!! :) He IS my little dress up doll ya know...
 ha!

And summer wouldn't be complete...

Can't wait for the pool!!

Alright, my sicky boo has gotten a second wind and is ready to play a little! The sun is shining so we might need to head out for alittle vitamin D. That always makes you feel better! Plus since he's not eating much and his teeth hurt  the doctor suggested popsicles...perfect to eat outside and not make a sticky mess inside!
gotta listen to doctor's orders :)

Today...

Today...  I talked to Aiden's teachers about his behavior. EVERY STINKIN TIME I do a blog post bragging about how sweet and adorable Aiden is, things completely change. Ever since that post last week he has gotten bad reports every day. I shouldn't say bad because he still eats all his food, takes a good nap, is a big helper... but every day there has been a little note about him not listening very well. :( I've been freaking out. Good thing Mike is so chill because I stress enough for the BOTH of us. I have been losing sleep over this. Today I had extra time so when I dropped him off I brought it up to his teachers. I just wanted to see what exactly was going on and how they have been handling the situation. I think consistancy is very important especially during these terrible twos... so I wanted to make sure we are all on the same page. Not FIVE seconds into the conversation I'm already crying. Yep... crying. {Seriously for once in my life could I JUST keep it together?!!! Nope.}

I just know Aiden is so sweet and is a good boy and it kills me to hear he is misbehaving and I dont want his teachers to dread him coming to school because he is naughty or look at me like im a bad parent. { do you see the twisted things that run through my mind?!} The teachers were so sweet and immediately reassured me he is no where NEAR the point of being concerned or having to take further measures... that he is a typical 2 year old and that this behavior is very  normal. They just wanted to make sure we're informed on what is going on during the day.

So of course when I picked him up today the owner mentioned he had heard what happened {me:cry baby} and once again assured me that they all adore Aiden and I shouln't be concerned at all. He also had a good report and apparently was listening well today. Oh brother... we shall see how it goes :)

Today... I went shopping for Aiden a green shirt for St. Patrick's Day... and being the huge procrastinator that I am, the selection was slim, actually... none. Ha. Which ended up being fine because I always get him shirts for each holiday, he wears them once then I dont want to put him in them again. You can't just bust out halloween shirts in April, or Valentine's shirts in July.... ya know?! So I just went with green. So he can wear them a lot and not just tomorrow!
Honestly, its really all they had... but its cute and comfy and most importantly... GREEN! A t-shirt and shorts at that... its suppose to be 80 tomorrow! A jacket in the morning... and he should be good!!

We have zero plans for St. Pattys. K-State is on so we'll just chill at home and watch that!

Today... I got these fabulous new shoes from Target. OBSESSED.

Not really sure if they are grey or beige or what but they literally go with everything and you just can't beat  a cute shoe at a great price. Thank you Target... you never fail me!!

Today... we also played outside! Mike got home earlier than usual so we took Aiden outside and played! This weather is amazing and tomorrow is suppose to be even better!! I love it, even if im stuck at work. With the time change it still gives us plenty of time to head outside when we get home and enjoy it before dinner, bath and bedtime. But...as much as we love getting to enjoy the wonderful weather I ask myself each time if its worth the BATTLE getting Aiden inside... seriously its a knock.down.drag.out. Ha! :)

Tonight... Im blogging and watching this movie...

                                                                            cute so far!

Hope everyone had a great day today as well... and Happy St. Patrick's Day! Get your GREEN on!!

Miscellaneous Musings...

                                                                 ::AIDEN::

hopefully ill take lots of pics of him soon... I got the call from the geek squad and my camera is fixed! woo hoo! He is still his same ornery, adorable, silly, sweet self these days! We just can't get over how smart he is. He will completely shock us everyday with words we didn't know he knew... its just crazy. He has been a typical two year old lately and really testing mommy and daddy. His new thing is to GROWL at me when I tell him no... it drives me absolutely crazy. If I get more mad it just makes it worse, so I try to ignore him when he does it. Still isn't working that great but hopefully this is just a phase!! He has more good days than bad at school and every once in a great while Ill get a comment on his daily report saying he wasn't listening very well. I guess its not completely horrible, he's not hitting or biting or anythign but I just hate any negative report what so ever :( But EVERY day I hear how loveable and cute and sweet he is... the boy is a CHARMER!! He is his fathers son!! He has one  new teacher in the afternoons, in addition to his other one, she hasn't even been there a week and the secretary tells me last week Aiden already has her wrapped around his little finger. Not suprised... the boy has a way with women, what can I say :) I can't help but laugh and be a little proud when they go on and on about him...

Other than that nothing else really new with him...
Potty training was a breeze thanks to him being in an older classroom and having wonderful teachers. I have to give ALL the credit to them. He RARELY has accidents anymore, wears underwear all day, even nap and stays dry. Just pull ups at night! He goes number 2 like a champ and STANDS to go potty, I still laugh seeing him do this. He even goes to the bathroom by himself! He'll just go upstairs, turn on the light, get his stool out and Ill hear the lid go up... um... your 2!! what?!?! I just couldn't be happier about how well this all worked out! He is growing up too fast!!

Mr. Serious
Ha!

::HAPPY FAT TUESDAY!::

"Fat Tuesday, a day allocated to gluttony and overindulgence"

Sign me up! In the past my friends and I went out and got crazy on fat tuesday... this year, no plans at all  except I made gumbo.... yum! To be honest I made this...

yup... dont judge its AMAZING :) I bought spicy andouille sausage & shrimp  plus  honey cornbread to go with  it. Both boys tore it up! Aiden even ate a little of the shrimp. I might have told him it was chicken...

This is me celebrating these days... with food. shocker! :)

::Anything has to be better than my miserable fail at dinner last night. I actually wasn't making the chicken veggie nuggets for dinner I was making them to freeze and have on hand for Aiden but they did NOT turn out. My Panko crumbs were weird and didnt bake right, or at all really. Ill try the recipe again but even mike and I wouldn't try the ones I made.. yuck!

I also made these green bean fries whtich I was really excited about... BUT I burnt them so they weren't that great. I just thought they were "roasted" but after trying them, they definitely tasted burnt. again, FAIL.
Im going to try both recipes again... and tweak a few things!

After I spent the whole evening last night  in the kitchen making two things that didn't turn out, having a sink full of dishes and a giant mess on the countertops then to top it all off I lit a towel on fire... and its one of my favorites that mike's grandma makes us every year for christmas :(

::THING IM LOVIN::

Got get it NOW!! A little on the pricey side but seriously it smells sooo good. I might even stop buying my beloved

Bounce dryer bars because they are unnecessary now! Im picky about detergent and I haven't had much luck lately... I just dont feel like our clothes are getting as CLEAN as I want them too... so far Im loving this stuff!!

:: RANDOM FINDS::

Hopefully Mike's mom can help me figure out how to do this for Aiden's books... too cute!!
he he. funnies :)

Love!!
Excited for St. Patty's Day!!
Told you it was going to be some miscellaneous musings... ha

What Im looking forward to...

There are TONS of fun events coming up in the next few months but first things first...

Baby Sis's Bachelorette Party!!

Im having SO much fun planning this party and even though my BIG IDEA fell through, its still going to be a great time!

My original plan was to find a country concert to go to. Nothing big like at the Sprint Center but a good band at a bar or something. In college my sister and I and our roomies were (and still are!!) HUGE Randy Rogers fans... we went to every.single.concert that they played in Manhattan. It was our thing and I thought it'd be fun to do it like old times for her fling before the ring!

After searching KC as well as every surrounding town, city, state I could NOT find a concert that would work :( Biggest sad face ever. It was back to the drawing board and I was not happy.

I emailed a group of her friends and gave them other options I had in mind. After talking to them and talking to our bachelorette we decided on a fun weekend in Manhattan. If weather permits we will be able to take over my dads and enjoy his beautiful house and amazing deck. The plan is to eat dinner then do presents and drinks and games out there... then head to Willies and other west side bars then end up in the ville.

Sarah is SO chill and she swore she didnt care what we did, she just wanted us all to be together... that and NO P&L. Thank god... that was the LAST place we wanted to go!!

Manhattan will be fun and all the girls will crash at my dads and it'll be a big ol' slumber party!

One thing all the girls agreed on was sticking with the western theme, even though we didn't have a concert to go to. I thought that was a great idea so we're doing a "bachelorette in boots" theme and I could NOT be more excited.

I just happened to find western themed bachelorette stuff. What are the odds!!?? Im sooooo over the bling bling pink and black bachelorette party theme...

check out the FUN stuff Im finding...

Have.to.Have. Im SOOO obsessed with these koozies!!

Unfortunately Sarah refuses to wear this hat. Such a bummer because I think its hilarious. A sash is what she wants because she hates hats and thinks she looks bad in them. Whatevs... it is her day though :)

Us girls are rocking some fun western shirts and boots ofcourse!! It's going to be really cute!!

Can't wait for the end of the month and this ...
YEE HAW!!!
